This circuit allows you to discover the rich natural and cultural heritage of the Vingeanne valley with its eroded springs and hills
The Vingeanne springs:
the Vingeanne is made up of the spot where two streams meet:
In the north, there is the Combe Royer spring, which is the only canyon in Haute-Marne that has been hollowed out by water in the chalky ground. It is considered to be the official geographical source.
In the South, there is the other source, which is mentioned on the IGN map.
In May, a carpet of wild garlic accompanies you on your walk.
The path is, in effect, covered with white stars of garlic, so the smell is absolutely astonishing
In the times of the crusades, a lord from Aprey and his wife, Jeanne, liked to walk through this wild valley. This happiness was lost after Jeanne's death. The young man liked to return to this place, where he would say to himself: Là, vint Jeanne (Jeanne was here).
J-G. Gigot, former regional archivist, contests this story of origin in the CHM (n°39).
According to him, the name of the river, which was known in Carolingian times, came from Vindogena, the white river.
